Answers to an Ancient Mystery

Sixty-five million years ago, almost all of the dinosaurs on Earth died at the same time. The only ones to survive were the few dinosaur relatives that could fly. What terrible event caused this? Scientists have sought the answer for a long time. They are still not completely sure. However, today there are two popular opinions about this unanswered question.

One group believes that a giant rock hit the area which is now Mexico. This filled the air with black dust. Skies everywhere became black, and the sun's light couldn't reach Earth for an extended period of time. During this time, the climate changed, and many kinds of plants and animals died. When the skies cleared, the temperature increased too much, killing even more plants and animals. Dinosaurs could not get the food they needed, and this caused them to starve to death.

Another group of scientists has a different idea. They say that, in reality, volcanoes were the problem. Volcanoes are openings in the earth that emit extremely hot melted rock. This group thinks that 65 million years ago, a lot of volcanoes started to become active. This caused the climate change that killed all the dinosaurs. At the moment, the true story remains a mystery.

The king was having a big party for his son, the prince. Cinderella couldn't go because she didn't have a nice dress and her step-mother didn't allow her to go. She hid in her room and cried. Then something shocking happened. A magical woman appeared and said, "You are going to the party, too." At first Cinderella was scared. But then suddenly she was wearing the most beautiful dress in the world. The kind woman also gave her a pair of beautiful glass shoes and warned her, "My magic will only last until 12 o'clock tonight. You must leave by then."

At the party, the prince danced with Cinderella and fell in love with her. When she finally left at midnight, he followed her, but she ran faster than he did. However, she accidentally dropped one of the glass shoes and the prince found it. The next day the prince asked all the women in the country to put on the shoe.
